Pathway for Attendings
Introduction
So you’ve graduated from residency, and are now an attending emergency medicine physician – congratulations!
Practically speaking, the hard part is done. You really only have 2 addional hurdles to being “home free” and professionally set for life. That’s not to say that CME and lifelong learning won’t continue, but the effort required to successfully check these boxes pales in comparison to the efforts required to complete medical school, residency, and achieve board certification.
Objective
Your next 4 months will be challenging, to say the least, but you are ready for this next challenge.
Your first challenge will be succesfully transitioning into your new practice as an attending. Whether at your home institution, or at a new location, whether you believe it or not, you are ready for this next phase of your career.
While this is a challenging task, it is importanty to maintain your focus on the next big career objective – passing your Qualifying Exam – the FIRST time!
Proper Preparation
Passing your Qualifying Exam – the FIRST time – boils down to one primary concept: proper preperation.
As I’ve alluded to in previous posts, my first attempt at passing the Qualifying Exam was not successful. My primary reason for failure in my first attempt was improper preparation. With that in mind, the entire purpose of EMBoardDoc.com is to help you prepare properly, and pass your boards the FIRST time!
